Summer in Rosedale
Dear Rosedale Community,
With summer heat in full swing, there are so many events going on and opportunities to get involved. I wanted to update you on a few things from the ANC. The first was a letter I authored from ANC 7D calling for DC Government to move forward quickly with the urban farm on Kramer street NE. I am hopeful that it will be approved shortly. Secondly, I signed on a letter calling for the Federal Bureau of Prisons to not transferring Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner Leonard Bishop. You can learn more here. Third, I want to thank The Gales-Kramer-Rosedale Adopt-a-Block for the clean up this past weekend. If you want to do a clean up on your block, just reach out to me. I have four pickers and trash bags.
Mamie “Peanut” Johnson
As many of you have seen, the intersection of New York Ave and Florida Ave, also known as Dave Thomas Circle, is being redone. One of the names being considered is Mamie “Peanut” Johnson who grew up in Rosedale and was discovered right here at Rosedale. Voting is open for the next month here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/H5PJDJX
